Al Classico and the Wild Rose Cup
Alberta’s rivalry trophy between Calgary and Edmonton supporters.
What is it?
The Wild Rose Cup is a trophy awarded to the best men’s team in Alberta, funded jointly by FC Edmonton supporters (River Valley Vanguard) and the Foot Soldiers. It was created for the Al Classico rivalry between Edmonton and Calgary — a tongue-in-cheek nod to Spain’s El Clásico — and has since been used whenever FC Edmonton and Cavalry FC meet.
